GARETH JAMES SCHOLARSHIP

The Gareth James Scholarship offers the opportunity for an outstanding student to attend Venue Management School or the Leadership Institute.

Gareth James was a pioneer of the venue management industry. He was the inaugural CEO of the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust and was an architect and founding member of the Venue Management Association and Venue Management School.

Gareth was passionate about empowering people and investing in their development and saw the value in collaborating across the industry. This scholarship has been named in honour of Gareth’s legacy and reflects Melbourne & Olympic Parks’ present-day commitment to collaboration and working across the industry to deliver exceptional event experiences.

The scholarship will be awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to teamwork and collaboration, providing the opportunity to connect with like-minded industry professionals at Venue Management School or Leadership Institute, learn and contribute to the future of the industry.

The winner receives:

Enrolment into either VMS Year 1 or VMS Year 2 or VMA Leadership Institute

Scholarship Criteria and Eligibility(Required)

To qualify, applicants must: • Have adequate experience and a level of skills and knowledge within the venue management industry to appropriately contribute to the School program for which they are applying (i.e. VMS Year 1, VMS Year 2, Leadership Institute). • Currently work in the venue management industry within the Asia-Pacific region. • Be 18 years of age or above.
