Event Operations Co-ordinator, Melbourne Cricket Club

The Melbourne Cricket Club manages the Melbourne Cricket Ground, one of Australia’s greatest assets.  The MCG is host to more than 70 major sports events annually, attracting at least three million patrons and visitors.

A 12 month fixed term contract opportunity has a risen in the Venue and Event Services Team for an Event Operations Co-ordinator.

Reporting to the Event Operations Manager, the Event Operations Co-ordinator is one of three co-ordinators responsible for the delivery of major events at the MCG including AFL football, domestic / international cricket, rugby league, soccer and concerts.

This role is detailed orientated and requires events to be meticulously recorded and communicated. It also involves creating, building and maintaining solid relationships while influencing outcomes with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the goal of delivering memorable experiences for our members, patrons and customers.

This is a pivotal role that will maximise revenue opportunities and build venue utilisation for Auckland Live. Leading and executing the existing strategy the incumbent will be tasked with also playing a key role in defining and creating a future strategy of cultural events for Auckland, with the Director Auckland Live. A key component of the role will be influencing and negotiating with national and international producers and promoters in attracting major musicals, classical, opera and ballet events, as well as major concerts and smaller events to Auckland. Significant budget and business case experience is highly desirable.

The Sydney Gymnastic and Aquatic Centre (SGAC) is a state-of-the-art facility which opened in August 2013, featuring two 25metre swimming pools with learn to swim and an Olympic standard gymnastics facility with a competition area boasting 1,200 viewing seats, set to host 30 competition weekends. The centre is also home to the Western Sydney Sports Medicine and Rehab Centre as well as providing Café, Merchandise and ATM services.

SGAC Fitness Club (established in 2008) has recently been refurbished and operates through two separate buildings (multi-site).  Offering the largest gym facilities in Western Sydney to over 7,000 active members, annual sales exceed $7.5 million.

It operates as a portfolio organisation in the Culture and Arts Portfolio.
