The Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of South Australia Incorporated (RAHS) was formed in 1839, and its Charter is to contribute to the success and promotion of primary industry through the staging of events and the rewarding of excellence.  An exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced and dynamic Chief Operating Officer to join the RAHS team.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this newly created position based at the Adelaide Showground is responsible for the day to day operations of the RAHS, with a specific focus on staging the Royal Adelaide Show. In addition, the incumbent will ensure the delivery of service and facilities at the Showground in support of more than 100 events and exhibitions annually attracting more than one million attendees.  The Chief Operating Officer will oversee the Showground’s Work, Health & Safety Program for the venue. Four divisional managers will report to the Chief Operating Officer who is responsible for optimising efficiency, maximising financial results and adhering to laws and regulations, as well as ensuring the Society’s operations are managed and delivered in line with the Society’s Charter.

The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified and possess an outstanding record in business management at a senior level.  Excellent leadership, negotiation, organisational and people management skills combined with sound business acumen and financial abilities are essential.  We are seeking a candidate with a strong commitment to achieving the RAHS’s strategic objectives and further strengthening and growing the Society’s business interests.  An executive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
